Ways To Monitor CPU/Processor Temperature

by usman on July 27, 2010

CPU temperature monitoring is the thing that needs to be monitored constantly is one uses the computer continuously without giving any rest to the computer and the temperature of computer room remains high. Although nowadays the computers are intelligent enough to shutdown automatically when the temperature crosses a certain threshold but if one is overclocking or over-voltaging a computer, then CPU monitoring for temperature becomes more important.

SpeedFan is a program that is used to monitor temperature of CPU/Processor in real time. In addition to reporting processor temperatures, SpeedFan also reports system temperature and system fan speeds including the CPU fan, Chassis fan and power fan. Voltages being given to the system are also reported by SpeedFan.

SpeedFan also shows S.M.A.R.T data from the hard drive showing its temperatures and speeds. The biggest advantage of SpeedFan is that it is free and it can be downloaded from here.

If you are looking for a monitoring solution for your entire network, then you should look for something like ethernet temperature monitor or network thermometer.

Core Temp is another cool program for temperature monitoring. I am using this since a year. Very happy with it. check here:
