Microsoft Security Essentials Review – Yet Another Antivirus From Microsoft

by usman on July 20, 2010

Microsoft Security Essentials is a free anti-virus and anti-malware from Microsoft. I have been using Microsoft Security Essentials for quite some time now and want to review it so that I may be able to express my view on it.

The first thing that I noted when I downloaded the final version of Microsoft Security Essentials was that it needed Windows Genuine Advantage validation which itself is a headache as sometimes it shows a completely genuine version of Windows as non genuine. I have written about remove wga windows 7.

Other than Windows Genuine Advantage validation, once Microsoft Security Essentials has been installed, it will update itself automatically. It has a very clean graphical user interface which I have not been able to find in many other security software.

Normally the theme of Microsoft Security Essentials is green but when a threat is detected, the theme becomes red. To remove the threat, one only has to click on Clean Computer button. Scheduled scanning of the computer is also available in Microsoft Security Essentials.
